Quarter v Semis

The quarterfinals were some of the most exciting matches of the Cup.  Why have the semis been so BLAH when there are such quality teams of the pitch??

    I think Spain is prone to 1-0 games because teams play so conservative against them. They accept that Spain will dominate posession, and focus on defense, so there are large stretches where there's no space for anything exciting to happen. It's how a lot of teams play against Barcelona as well (which is basically the Spanish team plus Messi and minus Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos). In the end Spain seems to always find a way to win, and I think they deserve to be in the finals. You're right, though - the quarterfinals were awesome!
