Go hard or go home?

The Champions League just ended, but preparations for the next one start soon after the end of the Copa. What do you think is more important to players: preserving their image by playing well during the World Cup, or going easy to avoid injury for their day jobs?

  1. For players and fans there is nothing bigger than the World Cup. There can be no greater glory than shining in this tournament. I'm sure Milito would trade his two goals in the Champion's League final for a game-winning goal in the World Cup Final. Injured players (e.g. Fernando Torres) are desperate to get fit in time for kickoff - despite any kind of risk to their club careers. This is one of the things that makes the World Cup so special - winning gold in the Olympics is not nearly as important to a basketball star as winning the NBA Championship.
